What's so good about Oban & Argyll? That's a question I hear often...... Even after having been born, bred and raised in Oban and spent most of my working life travelling round Argyll I still have WOW! moments when I drive round a corner or reach the crest of a hill, and stop and gaze in wonder at the panorama laid out before me. Wild seas crashing against rocks, peaceful bays and inlets sheltered by rugged hills, wide open rolling countryside or stunning sunsets like the one below.
The sunset over Oban bay is an ever changing kaleidoscope of colour with soft and subtle violets and purple giving way to vibrant, angry reds fading slowly to a gentle burnt orange as the sun reflects off wispy clouds and water before slowly dipping below the distant island hills.  Yup, that's a wow! moment for me. No matter how often I see it, I still have to stop and watch a while. When you see it for yourself it will be one of those memories forever engraved on your minds eye. As I took the sunset photo above an American gent beside me said, in a slow southern drawl, "Isn't mother nature an exceptional artist?". Not quite the way I'd have put it but you've got to agree he's right. But this area isn't just scenery and pretty pictures, there are numerous and varied activities and days out for the whole family be they aged eight or eighty - and I just know that given half a chance you'll come to love this part of the world and the people as much as I do.

What's in it for both of us?Just because I've lived here since the year dot, doesn't mean I know it all - far from it!Your input is welcomed and appreciated.
Are you considering purchasing property in the Scottish Highlands so that you can visit Oban & Argyll every year? Investing in a vacation property is a smart way to limit the expense of annual accommodations, and there are several resorts affiliated with Hilton Grand Vacations Club that sell such properties in the Highlands. Scotland rentals are another superb alternative that will provide you with luxurious lodgings with a distinctly Scottish twist amidst the rugged beauty of this area.
