Lorn Lines ~ (iss 11) ~ November 2008

Hope this finds everyone fit, healthy and raring to go.

Suddenly it's Winter - what happened to Autumn? October was fairly mild, we had the official last day of Summer and the last week of October was constant torrential rain with a blizzard thrown in for good measure!

Just out for a run in the car up towards Appin, it was OK when we left and suddenly it's a white out!

Luckily it didn't lie on the roads for too long and after a short visit to the Sea Life centre cafe we headed back to Barcaldine and then over the hill towards Bonawe and Loch Etive and were rewarded with view below

Thankfully this last week has been cold but dry - driving around looking at the scenery it felt like you could sometimes just reach out and touch and distant hills.

Picture framing course. Aristic, looking to expand your business or hobby? The UK School of Framing are holding a weekend framing course in Oban on the 29th and 30th November 2008. A very successful course 2 years ago was attended by photographers, artists and those who wanted to learn how to frame so they could start a home business. Day 1 covers the basics and day 2 is all about presentation with the emphasis on mount cutting and decoration

Party time! After a successful street party in Tesco car park in Oban another is planned for this New Year. Last years hogmanay party was a ticket only free event. This year is also ticket only but not a freebie- adult prices are £11-50 with childrens tickets approx half price. Let's hope that the organisers promise of more bars and facilites comes to fruition as last years 40 minute queue for a drink was a negative on what was otherwise an excellent event. See you there? Feel free to buy me drink ...

Travel. No matter which direction you approach from there are roadworks. There are also landslide warning for all roads this winter so just take care when you're out and about. Been doing a fair bit driving (more accurately, being driven) around this last couple of weeks and there's been no problems.

What's new on site? Not a lot! My apologies - but I do have a good excuse. I'm just home from the scary hospital after having a hip replacement op. Well on the way to recovery and although I was warned I would have this sensation, I'm absolutely convinced that my left leg is now longer than the right. I'm applying for a haggis hunters job! Anyways, new stuff coming up this month so don't be a stranger.

That all folks! Be happy. John
